High waves smash against the bank of Do Son beach in the northern port city of Hai Phong, Vietnam as Typhoon Conson churns towards northern Vietnam. The typhoon that left dozens dead in the Philippines and two in China weakened to a tropical storm as it churned toward northern Vietnam, smashing boats in its path and lashing the region with rain and wind.
